I have a keen interest on this subject because I myself have suffered from Anxiety for the past 40yrs. If you can develop an understanding of the small subtle changes that each of the Neurotransmitters create in your body & mood, this gives you an opportunity to modify your behaviour or your diet and reduce your suffering. You will be very, very, surprised how helpful a little tweak here and there can be !

Now I don’t want anyone to think that I am replacing pharmaceutical medicine or replacing a counselling session with a psychologist. Think of it all as common sense information, to be used alongside all the other therapies.A good example would this …. You cannot sleep because you just cant stop thinking about a problem. Many people resort to sedation, to prevent them from stewing over and over again. Did you know that Alkalising your body strengthens your emotionally braking system GABA. Memory loss and Confusion can be triggered by High Blood Sugar just as severely as a poor Acetylcholine function. The difference is that the blood sugar problem can be corrected much faster. But what if you have both ? It would be very easy to dismiss all other treatment approaches when someone is diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. Unstable Blood Sugars causes serious damage to the nerve ending all over your body. And that in turn, reduces their ability to function. Stabilising blood sugars & optimising Nutrition can go a long way to improving memory and focus. It can prevent pharmaceutical medication being increased, (along with all its side effects) In many people it can even slow progression of the Disease.
What if you develop “the shakes” This can be a symptom of Anxiety – BUT is the anxiety being caused by a low blood sugar, low Serotonin, low Gaba or too much Adrenaline ?? You could actually have all 4 of those problems but there isn’t one solution to fit all. You would need to peel back each layer, understand what the actual underlying trigger is and then deal with each of them separately.

There are foods that can support your mood, and specific exercise programs to enhance each different neurotransmitter.
